Just a few short days after it was revealed Marvel Comics villainess Shriek was joining Venom 2, Variety is reporting that Naomie Harris has entered negotiations to play the character.
Perhaps best known for her work in James Bond films, Harris has been building quite an impressive resume in the last few years. Her appearances in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle and Pirates of the Caribbean have endeared her to fans all over the world. Additionally, her role in 2016’s Moonlight earned her Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Venom 2 would be her first foray into the Marvel universe.

Debuting within the pages of Marvel Comics in 1993, Shriek has long been associated with Carnage. Her powers include flight, sound manipulation, and the ability to tap into people’s minds and bring out their inner darkness. Her inclusion in the sequel makes sense given the connection to Carnage. Fans of the first Venom will recall Woddy Harrelson’s appearance mid-credits promising the debut of that character in full in a future film.
With Andy Serkis attached to direct, Venom 2 shaping up to be rather ambitious. The film will further push Sony’s initiative to create their own Marvel universe using Spider-Man characters.
