Zendaya Led ‘Challengers’ Pushed To 2024
Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming R-rated feature starring Zendaya has shifted release dates. Challengers is now set for 2024 as the ongoing strike prevents stars from promoting films.
MGM has decided to push Challengers from its Sept. 15, 2023, release date to April 26, 2024. In addition to the shifted release date, the film has also bowed out of the Venice Film Festival, where it was set to premiere.

Studios continue to refuse to pay their writers and actors fairly, which looks to prolong the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes. During the strike, SAG-AFTRA actors are prevented from promoting any projects. And as one source noted to The Hollywood Reporter,
“How do you go to Venice without Zendaya supporting?”
The highly anticipated film stars Zendaya as a former tennis prodigy who coaches her husband, played by Mike Faist. He ends up competing against a former friend and Zendaya’s character’s ex, played by Josh O’Connor.
