‘Past Lives’ Star Greta Lee Joins ‘Tron 3’ Cast

The long-gestating sequel Tron: Ares has started to flesh out its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Past Lives star Greta Lee has been tapped for a leading role in the project.

Described as a lead role, Lee will reportedly play a video game programmer and tech company CEO on the run to protect her world-changing technology. She joins Jared Leto and Evan Peters, who previously joined the cast.

While the 1982 Tron and its legacy sequel focused on the world of computers and programs, Ares will explore a sentient program that crosses over into the human world. Leto is set to star as the program in the film.

Lee recently had her breakout role in the romance drama Past Lives. She has also previously appeared in Russian Doll and The Morning Show. Fans can hear her now in theatres as the AI Lyla in Spider-Man: Across the Universe.

Tron: Ares is set to begin filming in August, with Joachim Ronning set to direct. Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne wrote the film, and Justin Springer and Jeffrey Silver will serve as producers alongside Emma Ludbrook and Leto.
