The One Piece Netflix Fan has previously shared other casting reports from the live-action series. They also theorized that production might have cast someone younger for the part, given the long-term plans for the series.

Damonse has previously appeared in the 2018 drama series Arendsvei. The series focused on a family whose school and legacy come under fire by a revenge-obsessed young woman.

First published in 1997, One Piece is written and illustrated by Eichiro Oda. The series is still in print today and has spawned a massive media franchise, including an anime series that first aired in 1999, a number of films, and several video games. In 2022 One Piece became the best-selling manga series in history, with 500 million copies in circulation.

The series is set to star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. With production wrapped, it has been announced the show will debut on Netflix in August.
