Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Adds Stevel Marc As Usopp’s Dad Yasopp

Netflix’s live-action One Piece series is set to release sometime this year, but it seems some casting news is still surfacing. Based on actor Stevel Marc’s updated CV, he may have been cast as Usopp’s father, Yasopp.
A member of the Red Hair Pirates, Yasopp was one of the first people to join the legendary pirate crew when Shanks recruited him. He and the rest of the crew would then go on to meet Monkey D. Luffy during their time in Windmill Village. His appearance in the live-action series will likely focus on this time period.

Yasopp’s son and senior officer of the Straw Hat Pirates, Usopp, is being played by Jacob Romero Gibson. In the series, despite leaving his wife and child, Usopp does not resent his father but dreams of stepping into his shows one day.
First published in 1997, One Piece is written and illustrated by Eichiro Oda. The series is still in print today and has spawned a massive media franchise, including an anime series that first aired in 1999, a number of films, and several video games. In 2022 One Piece became the best-selling manga series in history, with 500 million copies in circulation.
The series is set to star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. With production wrapped, it has been announced the show will debut on Netflix sometime in 2023.
