‘Blade’: Saul Williams Reportedly Cast As Jamal Afari

While Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali has been delayed indefinitely, it seems some new casting for the project has surfaced. According to insider Daniel Richtman, actor Saul Williams has been cast as Jamal Afari.
Created by Chris Claremont and Tony DeZuniga in 1975, Jamal Afari debuted in Marvel Preview #3. Afari was the man that raised and taught the young Eric Brooks, aka Blade, how to slay vampires. The character served as a father figure for Blade and was a pivotal part of the vampire hunter’s origins.

Blade recently added rising star Mia Goth to the cast. Ali is still set to star as the titular vampire hunter, with Delroy Lindo also attached to the cast.
Marvel Studios’ Blade will hit theaters on September 6th, 2024.
