‘True Detective’ Creator Nic Pizzolatto To Write ‘Blade’ Reboot

Marvel Studios has reportedly tapped some new talent to tackle the script for the highly anticipated Blade reboot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nic Pizzolatto, creator of the critically acclaimed crime anthology True Detective, has signed on to write the film.
Blade already has a script by Michael Starrbury, who penned an episode of When They See Us. Pizzolatto is reportedly working off Starrbury’s draft and has already been at work for a few weeks. Stacy Osei-Kuffour was previously attached to pen the script for the film.

Lovecraft Country‘s Yann Demange is currently attached to helm the film for Marvel Studios. Presently eyeing a late May start date for production, the feature recently added rising star Mia Goth to the cast. Mahershala Ali is still set to star as the titular vampire hunter, with Delroy Lindo also attached to the cast.
The feature film will also mark a reunion for Ali and Pizzolatto, who last collaborated on season three of True Detective. Ali led the season and even earned an Emmy nomination for his role.
Marvel Studios’ Blade will hit theaters on September 6th, 2024.
