Fans are eager to know the stars that will bring Marvel’s first family to life in the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. Now a new report from insider Daniel Richtman claims that rising star Paul Mescal has been offered the role of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961, Johnny Storm first appeared in The Fantastic Four #1. The character is a founding member of the team who gained the ability to turn his body into flames after being bombarded by cosmic rays.

Former WandaVision key director Matt Shakman will helm the film and kick off Phase 6 of the MCU. Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer were previously attached to write the movie, but it seems Marvel Studios is taking the story in a different direction as Josh Friedman, who most recently worked on Avatar: The Way of Water, is now tapped to write the project.
Mescal is best known for his role in the Hulu series Normal People, which earned him an Emmy Nomination. In addition, he has starred in a number of recent films, including Aftersun, which earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. He is currently set to star in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel.
