‘Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun’ Anime Announces New Project

In unexpected news, it was officially announced that a new Toilet-bound Hanako-kun anime project is in the works. The announcement was shared on the series’ Twitter account, along with a teaser trailer and key visual.
Created by Aisalro in 2014, the manga is published by Square Enix and, as of now, has been collected in 18 volumes. The series follows Nene Yashiro, a first-year high school student with a fascination for the occult who strongly desires a boyfriend. When looking into the rumor of her school Hanako-San, the spirit of a girl who haunts bathrooms and grants wishes, Yashiro summons them only to discover Hanako is a boy. Now spiritually bound to him, Yashiro has to work as his assistant, helping to destroy evil spirits.

As stated on the series’ Twitter account, it refers to the project as the “Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Anime Project Restart” but it is unknown what this means. While it is possible this could just be a second season, it seems possible it may be a reboot, given the first season deviated from the manga a great deal.
