‘Blue Exorcist’ Announces New TV Anime Project In The Works

Fans were in for a welcome surprise during Jump Festa 2023 as it was announced that a new Blue Exorcist anime project is in production. The project will come in the form of a third season that will pick up where the Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga TV anime ended in 2017.
Created by Kazue Kato, the series began publication in 2009 and is published by Shueisha. It follows Rin Okumura, a teenager that discovers he and his twin brother are the sons of Satan, born from a human woman with their father’s powers. Enrolling at True Cross Academy to become an exorcist, Rin sets out to defeat his demonic father.Â

The first season of Blue Exorcist debuted in 2011 with 25 episodes. This was followed by the Blue Exorcist Movie in 2012 and the Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga television anime in 2017, which aired for 12 episodes. The manga currently has 28 volumes in print and recently returned from hiatus in May.
As of now, no story details about the new production have been revealed. No preview footage was shown for the project either, so it seems it could be some time before any further information is revealed about the new season.
