‘Secret Invasion’: Emilia Clarke Seemingly Playing Abigail Brand

Since it was first announced that Emilia Clarke had joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, fans have been trying to learn who she will play. Some reports have claimed she will be the Skrull G’iah, but new evidence suggests she will portray Abigail Brand.

Created by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday in 2004, the character debuted in Astonishing X-Men #3. She is the commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D., an offshoot of S.H.I.E.L.D. tasked with defending the Earth from alien threats.

After all the secrecy about Clarke’s character, it seems it may be Marvel themselves who revealed her role. On one of Disney’s official sites, a number of GIFS were uploaded for Secret Invasion. One of these GIFS features Clarke with the titled “It’s the Beginning Abigail Brand” suggesting she will be the S.W.O.R.D. commander in the show.

It should be noted that given the series is a spy thriller meant to make the audience question everything, it is still possible Clarke could be a Skrull posing as Brand. Until the show confirms it, everything is still up in the air, but for now, it is exciting to know Abigail Brand could make her live-action debut in Secret Invasion.
