New ‘Man of Steel’ Film Reportedly In Development

The Man of Steel may finally be making his triumphant return to the DC universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new Superman project that is “essentially Man of Steel 2” is being developed.
The film is being produced by Charles Roven, who worked on the first film. There is an ongoing search for writers, with Mission Impossible’s Christopher McQuarrie one of the names on the studios’ wishlist. As of now, though, the studio has not reached out to McQuarrie.

In addition to this new Man of Steel, other parties have hopes for the character. Dwayne Johnson has recently been vocal about a Black Adam vs. Superman movie. In the lead-up to Black Adam, the star has heavily teased a surprise cameo that should make Superman fans very happy.
Meanwhile, J.J Abrams is still on track to produce Ta-Nehisi Coates’ movie centered on a Black Superman. This project would exist outside of the main DC universe, much like Todd Philips’ Joker.
