Bassam Tariq No Longer Moving Forward With Marvel’s ‘Blade’

In an unfortunate turn of events, the Marvel high many were feeling following the announcement of Hugh Jackman finally debuting in the MCU has been dialed down. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Blade has lost its director Bassam Tariq stepping down due to scheduling conflicts.
In a statement, Marvel Studios reveals the exit is due to further shifts in when the cameras will begin rolling.
“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film,” Marvel said in a statement to THR. “We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”
Per the initial report, Tariq gave his own statement as well.
“Its been an honor working with the wonderful folks at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.”

Stacy Osei-Kuffor is penning the script for the MCU’s version of the iconic vampire slayer. Filming was scheduled to begin in early October 2022 at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. The film will star Mahershala Ali, in the titular role with Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre also attached to star in unknown roles. Blade, stands with a release date of Nov. 3, 2023
