She-Hulk is back this week for another fun romp in, as the show put it, “a self-contained wedding episode.” Taking a step away from the lawyering, Jen finds herself a bridesmaid to an old friend from high school. And much to her chagrin, she has to attend the wedding as just Jen because the Jade Giantess is not so welcome. This coming right after Jen has finally started to accept her She-Hulk side comes off as a step backward as she has to separate herself from her powers once again.
Meanwhile, the episode cuts back to the GLK&H offices to find Nikki working with Mallory during Jen’s absence. Their work finds them consulting with a Mr. Hollis, or as comic fans will know him, Mr. Immortal. The latter is going through a messy divorce, made even messier given that he has faked his death to avoid the awkwardness of ending a marriage.
Jumping back and forth between the two storylines, Jen tries to get through the lead-up to the wedding, but unfortunately, Titania has crashed the event. While Nikki and Mallory, who have taken on Mr. Immortal’s case, learn just how complicated their client’s divorces are as they sit down with his many former spouses.

Jen is having a less than stellar time at the wedding, but she does start to hit it off with one of the other guests, Josh. The two get to talking, giving the audience a chance to see how Jen feels about herself, and we start to see her more confident side as she explains how proud she is about her job and her newfound She-Hulk self. But things begin to take a turn after Titania attacks her. After a brief scuffle, Jen Hulks out and beats the latter forcing her to run away from the wedding humiliated. And thankfully, the bride is much more welcoming of She-Hulk after the fight.
Back with Nikki and Mallory, the duo have wrapped up Mr. Immortal’s case and are browsing the website, Intelligencia, mentioned by one of their client’s former spouses, and getting to know each other. Nikki and the viewers learn a bit more about Mallory as she starts to open up further in this episode. Eventually, during their browsing, the two find several troubling posts about She-Hulk, with some even threatening to kill the heroine. Nikki calls Jen and leaves a message warning her about the site, but she is finally enjoying the wedding with Josh.
The episode then reveals a mysterious group secretly observing Jen in a lab. It seems they were behind the attack on Jen by the Wrecking Crew in episode 3. Given the reveal, they will likely be the real villains of the series and could prove to be quite the problem for She-Hulk.

Episode 6 was a fun step away from the normal storyline, but it felt somewhat underwhelming as things finally started to pick up last week. And unfortunately, it feels fair to say that after last week’s tease of Daredevil, many fans will most likely be looking forward to his appearance in today’s episode. Still, it is unfair to hold this against the episode.
Beyond the last few minutes setting up the mysterious “big bad” of the show, it didn’t do much else to progress the plot. The show did take a meta moment at the start of the episode to get ahead of this complaint by warning us this would be a self-contained story, but it is still a bit of a letdown. The audience did get a chance to learn more about Jen’s state of mind and Mallory’s background, but with only three episodes left in the season, this doesn’t feel like enough. Hopefully, with next week’s episode, fans can look forward to the storyline getting back on track as the conflict gets underway.– Jacob Campbell
