‘Madame Web’ Cast, Plot Details & Release Date

Sony has been hard at work creating their own corner of the Marvel universe on the big screen. Following films like Venom and Morbius, the studio continues to create stories about Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. Up next is the Dakota Johnson-led Madame Web. Here is everything that we know about the latest film in the Sony Spider-Man Universe.
The Cast and Crew
Dakota Johnson stars in the titular role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Tahar Rahim, and Adam Scott. Outside the confirmation that Johnson will be playing Madame Web, character details for the rest of the cast remain unearthed at the moment.
Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson is on board to helm the film with a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (The Last Witch Hunter). Sony Pictures will produce the feature in conjunction with Marvel Entertainment as the latest film in the Sony Spider-Man Universe.
Who is Madame Web?
Created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr., Madame Web first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980. She appears as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis, connected to a life support system resembling a spiderweb. However, per the initial report, the film will likely put a different spin on the character and she will likely serve as Sony’s version of Doctor Strange. The character usually appears when the multiverse of Spider-Man characters converges.
Release Date
First announced in 2019, the upcoming female-led superhero movie will receive a theatrical release on October 6, 2023. The film was previously set for July 7, 2023 before moving into the Fall. Madame Web arrives seven months after Kraven the Hunter, which is scheduled to be released on January 13, 2023.
