‘Sleepy Hollow’ Reboot For Paramount To Be Written and Directed By Lindsey Beer

The headless horseman will ride again as his story will be retold by Lindsey Beer, according to Deadline. Beer recently signed an overall deal with Paramount. She will also produce with Todd Garner and Spencer Walken of Broken Road Productions. Beer recently finished her Pet Sematary prequel for Paramount. Sleepy Hollow will be her next project for the studio.
The tale of Ichabod Crane has had many iterations. From the 1949 Disney animated film to the Fox series streaming on Hulu and Netflix. Paramount’s Sleepy Hollow film from the duo of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp was the most popular and successful iteration. The film grossed over 200 million dollars and is an iconic pop culture piece of cinema that’s still ranked high on horror film lists every Halloween. For now, there are no details about Beer’s version yet.

Beer’s directorial debut will be the Pet Sematary prequel. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura will be producing the film, set to release later this year. Beer has also worked on the new Star Trek film for Paramount and Bad Robot as a writer. She’s also written a draft for Bambi (Disney) and Hello Kitty (New Line). In addition, Beer serves as a writer and showrunner for Netflix and Mark Millar’s The Magic Order TV show.
Garner and his Broken Roads Production company have also made a deal with Paramount. His producer credits include the likes of Tag, Mortal Kombat, and Vacation Friends. He also produced Netflix’s newest film Senior Year starring Rebel Wilson, which Paramount also produced through their Players division.
