Anthony Hopkins Joins Zack Snyder’s Sci-Fi Adventure ‘Rebel Moon’ For Netflix

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated projects in recent memory. Following the online crusade to get his Justice League film completed and released and the heist film Army of the Dead, the filmmaker set his eyes on the stars for a new sci-fi flick for Netflix. As first reported by Deadline, Snyder is recruiting one the greatest living actors for the feature by casting Anthony Hopkins in a key role.
Hopkins joins an already stacked cast including Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, and Djimon Hounsou. Additionally, Jena Malone, Stuart Martin, Ed Skrein, Cary Elwes, and Corey Stoll will appear in the film as well. Per the initial report, Hopkins will voice Jimmy, a sentient battle robot and one-time defender of the slain King.

The film, titled Rebel Moon, hails from Zack Snyder from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. The film will reportedly take place in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy. The plot charts a threat to the colony by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. The civilians dispatch a young woman who has a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the incoming threat. The film will release exclusively on Netflix via the streamer’s first-look deal with Snyder.
Hopkins is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable and prolific actors. His awards include two Academy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, a British Academy Television Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award. Most recently, the Silence of the Lambs star earned Oscar buzz for his performance in Florian Zeller’s The Father, a director he will reunite with for his next film The Son.
