Bad Bunny To Star In ‘Spider-Man’ Spin-Off Film ‘El Muerto’ For Sony

It appears Sony feels it is a good idea to continue with their own Spider-Man spin-off films as they have just announced a new one. During the studio’s panel at CinemaCon, it was revealed that Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, will star in a standalone movie focused on the character El Muerto.
Created by Peter David and Roger Cruz in 2006, El Muerto debuted in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #6. Trained since birth as a masked wrestler who utilized mystical masks to grant him powers, Juan-Carlos Sanchez was tasked with unmasking Spider-Man. The character has since served as an anti-hero in the Marvel universe.

This will mark Bad Bunny’s second major studio project as he is set to appear in Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The star was reportedly involved in several meetings to determine a project for him to headline, where it was decided El Muerto would work well.
Sony recently pushed back several of their Marvel projects, including Madame Web and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One). The two films are now dated for July 7, 2023, and June 2, 2023, respectively.
