‘Stargirl’ Season 3 Casts Tim Gabriel As Green Lantern’s Son Obsidian
The CW’s Stargirl has added a new face to the cast of season 3. According to Entertainment Weekly, Tim Gabriel has been cast as the son of Green Lantern, aka Obsidian.
Created by Roy Thomas and Jerry Ordway in 1983, Todd Rice made his debut in All-Star Squadron #25. The biological son of Alan Scott and Rose Canton, Todd was raised in an abusive adopted home. After meeting his biological twin sister Jade the two discover they have superpowers. As Obsidian, he can merge his body with his own shadow giving him enhanced strength, flight, intangibility, and the ability to envelop others in shadows.

Todd was previously mentioned during season 2 of the show by Ysa Penarejo’s Jade as she is on a mission to find her long-lost brother. According to Entertainment Weekly’s report, Todd is LGBTQ, just as in the comics. He has been living on the streets but has been taken in by The Helix Institute and the mysterious Mr. Bones, who was teased at the end of the season 2 finale. In the comics, Todd was originally a hero like his sister but eventually turned evil, so it seems the show may adapt this storyline.
Stargirl seasons 1 and 2 are available on HBO Max and The CW app.
