‘Blue Beetle’: Lady Styx To Potentially Appear As The Film’s Villain

DC and Warner Bros. are still in the early phases of developing the upcoming Blue Beetle film, but it seems they already have a villain in mind. According to The Illuminerdi, Lady Styx may appear in the movie.
Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner in 2011, the character debuted in Blue Beetle #1. Amparo Cardenas is an entity older than time that has gone by many names, including The Dame, Lady Styx, and The Queen of All Beings and Things. She takes up residence in the 21st century as a mob boss who tries to recruit Jaime Reyes and later was revealed to have killed half the Justice League in the 30th century.

The Illuminerdi reports that Warner Bros. and DC are looking to cast a woman in her 50 to 60s to play the role. Beyond this, much of the film remains under wraps, so hopefully more is revealed soon.
Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) is penning the film’s screenplay with Charm City Kings director Angel Manuel Soto helming the feature. The film was previously set to premiere on HBO Max exclusively, but it has since changed to a theatrical release.
