Taylour Paige Reportedly Eyed To Play Calypso In ‘Kraven The Hunter’

Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film is reportedly looking to grow its cast. According to The Illuminerdi, the studio is eyeing Taylour Paige to play Calypso in Kraven the Hunter.
Created in 1980 by Denny O’Neil and Alan Weiss, the character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #209. Calypso is a voodoo priestess typically depicted as an enemy of Spider-Man. In her early appearances, she provokes Kraven the Hunter’s hatred toward Spider-Man and uses her magic against the Web Crawler. So given Calypso’s connection to Kraven in the comics, her role in the film will be rather significant.

It was previously reported that Sony was interested in Jodie Turner-Smith for the role. But this is seemingly no longer the case as the project is currently eyeing Paige for the character.
Paige has previously starred in the films Zola and Man Rainey’s Black Bottom. Additionally, she is set to appear in the upcoming movies Brothers and The Toxic Avenger.
The film has cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular character and Fred Hechinger as the Chameleon. Additionally, actor Russell Crowe will appear in an unknown role. The film is being written by Richard Wenk, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, with JC Chandor on board to direct.
