Netflix’s ‘Murder Mystery 2’ Brings Together Star-Studded Cast

Say what you will about Adam Sandler, but the man always knows how to draw a crowd. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler and Netflix’s follow-up to the 2019 mystery-comedy, Murder Mystery, is well underway for a 2022 release, and its cast is growing by the day.
Following in the footsteps of the previous film’s large ensemble, Murder Mystery 2 will feature an all-star group of Hollywood heavyweights and TV superstars. In addition to its returning stars—Sandler and Jennifer Aniston—Murder Mystery 2 now sports a supporting cast of Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Mark Strong (the Kingsman franchise), Mélanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds), Kuhoo Verma (Plan B), Enrique Arce (Money Heist), Annie Mumolo (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar), and Zurin Villanueva (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Adeel Akhtar and John Kaniare will reprise their roles from the first film as well.

As is typical with most high-profile whodunnits, plot details for the film are in short supply. Of course, this is likely because the film is still stuck in the pre-production stage of filming. And though the sequel marks only the second in its franchise, Murder Mystery 2 will likely serve as the 10th collaboration between Sandler and Netflix. The duo’s first project came in 2016 with the release of the western farce, The Ridiculous Six. Since then, the actor and the streaming giant appeases both sides of the aisle with the release of a kid-friendly holiday flick (Hubie Halloween) and adult-oriented buddy comedies (The Do-Over, The Week Of).
Jeremy Garelick (The Binge) will direct Murder Mystery 2, while James Vanderbilt will return to pen the film’s screenplay. There is no official release date for the mystery-comedy at this time.
