Directed by Denis Villeneuve with a screenplay by Jon Spaihts (Passengers), Villeneuve, and Eric Roth (Forrest Gump), Dune is based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. Additionally, the film adaptation features an all-star ensemble including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. Releasing last weekend, the film earned an impressive $40.1 million in its domestic debut. Notably, the film’s box office gross makes the film the biggest of the year for Warner Bros.
Set in the far future, Dune follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet) as he and his family, House Atreides, are thrust into a war for the dangerous desert planet Arrakis. In her review for the film, Full Circle’s very own Josie Meléndez calls Dune “an entertaining cinematic feat to say the least. Its take on a coming-of-age story through the trials of manhood is an experience many should give a chance to.”
