Knock Knock. The Echidna with attitude has joined Sonic and Tails for their next adventure. Fresh off his debut as Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad, Idris Elba has announced his casting as Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic The Hedgehog 2. The actor tweeted out Knuckles’ signature, well, knuckles with the announcement.

Knuckles first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 back in 1994 and quickly became a fan favorite. The character started off working with Dr. Eggman after being tricked into believing Sonic and Tails were after Master Emerald. The character was teased in the original 2020 film where Sonic escapes his home dimension from a clan of echidnas. Previously, reports pointed to Jason Momoa being eyed for the role. With Tails confirmed to be a part of the film along with the return of Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik.

Jeff Fowler is returning to direct the film. Ben Schwartz is confirmed to return as the voice of Sonic along with Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter. Finally, Sega executives Hajime Satomi and Haruki Satomi will serve as executive producers alongside Deadpool director Tim Miller.
