Aaron Taylor-Johnson Cast As Kraven The Hunter In Sony’s Marvel Film

Sony has finally found its Kraven the Hunter. Wednesday, it was reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was cast as the iconic Spider-Man villain in Sony’s upcoming Marvel film.
Debuting in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in August 1964, Kraven the Hunter is an adversary to Spider-Man. However, the character has also been depicted as an antihero and an ally of Squirrel Girl. Kraven is a renowned big-game hunter who aims to kill Spider-Man to prove himself as the world’s greatest hunter but maintains a code of honor and justice, treating his adversaries as equals. He is also one of the founding members of the supervillain team, the Sinister Six.

The studio has reportedly locked Taylor-Johnson down for multiple appearances as the character. His first being in the solo Kraven the Hunter movie directed by J.C. Chandor. The project is described as the next chapter in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters. Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk are signed on to write with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing.
Sony had a number of stars on the shortlist for the role including Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, John David Washington, and Adam Driver. After Taylor-Johnson’s performance in Bullet Train the studio decided he was the right choice for the role.
