Over the last few months, Peacock has quietly solidified its place as a frontrunner in the streaming wars. With notable offerings like Modern Family, Bridesmaids, and the entire WWE Network catalog, the streamer is also developing original content as well. As first reported by Variety, a new romantic comedy series titled Wolf Like Me is going into production with Josh Gad and Isla Fisher attached to star.
The 6-episode series has already received a straight-to-series order from Peacock. Abe Forsythe (Little Monsters) will write and executive produce the series in addition to directing all six episodes. Additionally, both Gad and Fisher will serve as executive producers beside Jodi Matterson (The Dry), Bruna Papandrea (Wild), and Steve Hutensky (The Nightingale).
Wolf Like Me will follow Gary and Mary, portrayed by Gad and Fisher, respectively. Gary is an emotional wreck struggling to care for his young daughter following the death of his wife. Mary, on the other hand, is hiding a dark secret she refuses to share with anyone. Fate brings these two together for a reason and they vow to keep following the signs and find out why. In a statement, the aforementioned Forsythe explains his excitement for the series finally getting the green light.
“Wolf Like Me is a very meaningful project for me,” Forsythe said. “The stakes are extremely high but grounded by things we can all relate to. I’m so excited to have Isla and Josh on board, and I know the audience will be surprised to see them in a different way as these characters.”
Josh Gad is perhaps best known for his role of Olaf in Frozen and Frozen 2. His relationship with Disney has expanded by playing LeFou in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming spinoff series alongside Luke Evans’ Gaston. Currently, Gad stars in the HBO series Avenue 5 and lends his voice to the Apple TV+ animated series Central Park. Meanwhile, Isla Fisher’s extensive résumé includes starring roles in Now You See Me, Tag, and The Great Gatsby. Most recently, the actress starred opposite Jillian Bell in the Disney+ movie Godmothered.
