‘Indiana Jones 5’ Taps Phoebe Waller-Bridge To Co-Star With Harrison Ford

Indy won’t be alone for his next adventure. Variety reports that Fleabag star and creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has joined the fifth Indiana Jones film as Harrison Ford’s first new co-star.
Waller-Bridge joins the project in an undisclosed role as it gears up for production this summer with Logan‘s James Mangold at the helm. The latter is still meeting with more talent to fill out the remaining cast, potentially indicating the sequel will see a lot of new faces fill up the screen. Known for her unique comedic chops in front and behind the screen, Waller-Bridge adds a fresh perspective to a franchise ripe for reinvention. If her involvement wasn’t exciting enough, it’s also been confirmed that veteran composer John Williams will return for the fifth time and score the film.

Steven Spielberg won’t be at the helm this time around, but his presence will still be felt. He watches the project closely in a producing capacity alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel. Plot details remain non-existent at this time but it’s been speculated that this could be the final run for Ford’s Indy after the disastrous Kingdom of the Crystal Skull put the franchise to sleep for over a decade.
Waller-Bridge has been on a roll as of late, contributing to the No Time to Die script and most recently attached to star alongside Donald Glover in the Amazon series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. And that’s after she swept the 2019 Emmys for Fleabag, nabbing the Best Actress and Best Comedy Series awards in one fell swoop. She currently serves as an exec producer on the hit BBC show Killing Eve, which stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer.
