It seems as if a new Netflix original film arrives on the streaming service every other day. With 2020 releases like Eurovision Song Contest and The Trial of the Chicago 7 earning high praise, the studio continues to pump out original content with big names in starring roles. According to THR, Netflix will next produce a new sci-fi action-adventure titled The Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds leading the cast.
Reynolds will be joined by A-listers Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Gardner in the feature as well. Per the initial report, The Adam Project follows a man tasked with traveling backward in time. The mission leads him to seek help from the 13-year-old version of himself. Joining forces, the two versions of Reynolds’ character come face to face with their father, along with a bevy of consequences.
Saldana will co-star in the film as an accomplished fighter pilot as well as the wife of Reynolds’ character. Moreover, Garner is on-board to appear in the film as the 13-year-old boy’s mother. The film will see a reunion between Reynolds and his Free Guy director Shawn Levy, who will helm the project. Jonathan Tropper (This Is Where I Leave You) will rewrite the screenplay originally penned by Mark Levin (Earth 2), Jennifer Flackett (Nim’s Island), and TS Nowlin (The Maze Runner). Netflix will produce the film in collaboration with Skydance Media.
Ryan Reynolds is seemingly the busiest man in Hollywood today. With upcoming releases like Upstate and Everyday Parenting Tips, the actor is continuing to bolster his stacked résumé. Up next for Zoe Saldana is a reprisal of her otherworldly roles in the Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises. Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner will next star alongside Édgar Ramírez in Miguel Arteta’s Yes Day.
