The CW’s ‘Batwoman’ Casting Amygdala For Season 2

Another member of Batman’s rogues’ gallery will reportedly appear in season 2 of The CW’s Batwoman. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the show is casting for the villain Amygdala.
Created by Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle, Amygdala debuted in 1992’s Batman: Shadow of the Bat #3. After undergoing surgery to have his amygdala removed, Aaron Helzinger became mentally unstable with frequent bouts of homicidal rage. With near-superhuman strength and endurance, he has been a formidable adversary for Batman.

Richtman reports that Batwoman is looking to cast an actor in their 30s-40s of any ethnicity to play the villain. The series recently cast actor Alex Morf as Victor Zsasz, who has frequently worked with Amygdala in the comics, so it will be interesting to see if they appear together in the show.
Season two of Batwoman will see Javicia Leslie become the first woman of color to embody the iconic character. Leslie takes the role over from season one star Ruby Rose, who departed the series earlier this year. Like many other series, Batwoman season one halted early due to the coronavirus pandemic. The show had a planned 22-episode season, but Episode 20 served as its season finale.

Batwoman will return in January 2021.
