Two of the biggest stars in hip hop are set to collaborate for a rather enticing crime drama heading to CBS All Access. As first reported by Deadline, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is on-board to executive produce the series titled Twenty Four Seven with Clifford Joseph Harris Jr. AKA T.I. attached in a starring role.
Per the initial report, the series is based on the book Notorious C.O.P.: The Inside Story of the Tupac, Biggie, and Jam Master Jay Investigations from NYPD’s First “Hip-Hop Cop written by Derrick Parker and Matt Diehl. The story follows the aforementioned Parker. The officer is best known for working on some of the biggest criminal cases in hip hop history. His work takes him from the first shooting of Tupac Shakur to the murder of Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay. T.I. will star in the series as Parker with further casting information to follow as the series heads towards production.
South of Nowhere scribe Dallas Jackson will write the show’s script. Moreover, 50 Cent will produce the series through his G Unit Film & Television company alongside CBS TV Studios and Lionsgate TV. T.I. will also produce the series with Brian Sher (Avalon) and Tom Sullivan (Fame).
50 Cent’s recent venture into the TV medium has proven to be pretty successful. His series Starz series Power receives a number of accolades with every passing season and his latest project For Life premiered on ABC earlier this year. While the businessman is not currently set to appear in the upcoming series, he often pops up in the shows he produces in guest or recurring roles. The Grammy Award-winning T.I. continues to expand his acting résumé with consistently impressive roles. Last appearing in Marvel’s Ant-Man & The Wasp, T.I. will next star in Paul W. S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter with Ron Perlman.
