Byron Howard & Jared Bush To Helm Disney’s ‘Encanto’

UPDATE: During Thursday’s Disney Investor Day, it was confirmed that Disney’s Encanto will release in September 2021.
When it was revealed in January that Byron Howard and Jared Bush would direct Disney’s next animated feature, details on the project were still scarce. Now according to The DisInsider, Howard and Bush will helm Disney’s Encanto.
The film is tentatively titled Encanto, but The DisInsider did mention this could change similar to Raya and the Last Dragon‘s title change. Encanto is centered on a young Brazilian girl and her family, who all have magical powers, sadly, the young girl has no powers.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing the music, with Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino Flores on board to produce. In addition to directing the film, Howard and Bush are also signed on to co-write the screenplay with Charise Castro Smith.
The movie does not currently have a release date. However, The DisInsider speculated it could secure Disney’s Nov. 24, 2021 release date. For now, though, this is mere speculation, so stay tuned for any updates regarding the project.
