Vanessa Morgan Reportedly Eyed For Lead Role In ‘Batwoman’

The CW is already in the process of casting their replacement for Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane. According to The Cinema Spot, Vanessa Morgan is being eyed to play Ryan Wilder on Batwoman.
In May, it was announced that Ruby Rose had exited the series. While many assumed her role would be recast, The CW announced that it would bring in an original character. Wednesday, the network announced that the character of Ryan Wilder would become the new Batwoman.
Morgan is no stranger to The CW as she currently stars as Toni Topaz on Riverdale. The Cinema Spot revealed that in addition to her audition, Morgan will also be doing a screen test with other members of the cast. Riverdale is rumored to be doing a time jump next season, so it would help explain why Morgan’s character was not returning after the break.

Production on Batwoman is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so it has given the network some extra time to find a replacement for Rose. The pandemic also resulted in the show’s freshman season being cut short as production had not finished on all of the first season’s episodes.
