It seems a new actor will take on the role of Captain Kirk. According to The Cinema Spot, Jake Cannavale is being eyed to play the character on the Captain Pike series Star Trek: Enterprise.
According to the report, the streaming service is very interested in Cannavale for the role. He has reportedly even had a screentest with Ethan Peck, who plays Spock, over Skype. The actor’s most recognizable is on the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. In the series, he worked with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin to find the assassin Fennix Shand on Tatooine.
Cannavale would be portraying a younger version of the character if he does take on the role. Captain Kirk first appeared in Star Trek: The Original Series aboard the USS Enterprise played by William Shatner. More recently, the character has been portrayed by Chris Pine in the film series.
