‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Reboot Interested In Karen Gillan For Lead

Late last year, it was announced that Disney is planning to reboot its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Now, according to insider Daniel Richtman, Disney is eyeing Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Karen Gillan to star in the project.
It was previously rumored that the studio was hoping to reboot the franchise with a female lead, and it appears that this is indeed the case. Gillan, if cast, would star as an adventurer after a lost treasure who is described as skilled, witty, and impulsive.

The film is currently being written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott, who co-wrote the first four Pirates of the Caribbean movies, to craft a story for the franchise relaunch.
Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman are both signed on to produce with the studio still searching for a director to helm the project.
