Peter Sollett To Helm D.B. Weiss & David Benioff’s ‘Metal Lords’ For Netflix

D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are best known for creating the groundbreaking HBO series Game of Thrones. Since the series wrapped last year, the filmmakers have been attached to a bevy of new projects. As first reported by Discussing Film, the duo moves forward with their lucrative Netflix partnership to produce a new film titled Metal Lords.
With a script penned by Weiss, Metal Lords will be directed by Peter Sollett. Best known for his work on Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Sollett spent the last few years directing various episodes of shows like Rise and Almost Family. Additionally, the filmmaker will write and direct a film adaptation of the video game Minecraft.

Benioff and Weiss will serve as producers alongside Greg Shapiro (The Hurt Locker). Per the initial report, Metal Lords will follow two high school kids with dreams to start a heavy metal band. Additionally, they come across a girl who plays the cello and the three form a tumultuous team to compete in an upcoming battle of the bands.
D.B. Weiss and David Benioff recently directed Leslie Jones: Time Machine for Netflix. Benioff also wrote the screenplay for Will Smith’s 2019 film Gemini Man.
