‘The Sandman’: Audition Tape For Death Surfaces Online

In Feb. fans of The Sandman got the first look at an audition tape for The Corinthian, and now it appears yet another audition has surfaced. It seems that an audition tape for Death of the Endless has appeared online.
The actress in the clip appears to be using lines taken directly from The Sandman #8 “The Sound of Her Wings” in which Death talks to Dream after he escapes from imprisonment. The dialogue is taken directly from the issue with someone out of frame performing Dream’s lines. Although it’s not indicative the series will use those exact lines, it’s clear they’re looking to use the source material as a direct inspiration for the adaptation.
Created by Neil Gaiman and Mike Dringenberg in 1989, Death made her debut in The Sandman #8. Like her brother Dream, she is a member of The Endless the personification of death in the DC Universe. She appeared multiple times in Gaiman’s series and has, on occasion, popped up in the main DC continuity having met Lex Luthor in Action Comics #894. Death is one of the most popular characters to appear in the series and has become a fan favorite among readers. Her popularity even spun out into two solo series, Death: The High Cost of Living and Death: The Time of Your Life.
