‘Doctor Sleep’ Star Carl Lumbly Joins The Cast Of ‘Falcon & The Winter Soldier’

Disney+ will debut its first live-action series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer. Falcon and the Winter Soldier will pick-up following the events of Avengers: Endgame and feature the return of Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. However, as first reported by Deadline, the series stars will be joined by a new face in the form of Supergirl‘s Carl Lumbly.
Lumbly’s character is currently being kept under wraps. However, a number of Marvel fans speculate he will play Isiah Bradley. Debuting within the pages of Marvel Comics in 2003, Bradley was an African-American test subject for the Super Soldier Serum. The clandestine experimentation on black soldiers draws inspiration from the real life Tuskegee syphilis experiment conducted between 1932 and 1972. Bradley goes on to develop powers similar to Captain America and becomes a legendary hero in his own right.

Moreover, Lumbly is no stranger to comic book adaptations. The actor recently appeared as the father Martian Manhunter, on The CW series Supergirl. Additionally, Lumbly actually voiced the Martian Manhunter in the Justice League animated series.
If Lumbly does indeed inhabit the role of Isiah Bradley, he would likely serve as an inspiration and mentor to The Falcon, who currently possesses Captain America’s shield.
