Set Photos From ‘The Suicide Squad’ May Tease Corto Maltese

It has long been rumored that James Gunn’s upcoming entry in the DCEU will take Task Force X to the fictional country of Bialya. However, recent set photos have surfaced that suggest The Suicide Squad may also visit a classic location, Corto Maltese.
Rumors have circulated for some time now that The Suicide Squad will take partially take place In Bialya, the Middle Eastern locale ruled over by Queen Bee. But new images from the set have hinted at a secondary location. The film is currently filming in Santa Ana, Panama City, and several fans have posted pictures and videos from the area. Now a new image has been revealed that seems to feature an unknown flag of a fictional location.

It is clear that this setting takes place in Latin America, and Corto Maltese is one of the most well known of DC’s fictional countries in this area. The country has appeared frequently in The CW’s Arrow and is well known by comic fans. It should also be noted that some have suggested this could also be Santa Prisca. This latter country is also well known in the DC universe thanks in part to Young Justice and its most famous resident Bane. It seems rather unlikely Bane would appear in the film, but if this location does end up being Santa Prisca rather than Corto Maltese, this could be an exciting tease for fans of the character.
