‘Eternals’: Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos Confirmed As Marvel’s First Gay Superhero

When it was first revealed that Marvel Studios’ Eternals would feature the first openly gay superhero in the MCU, many fans were curious who it would be. Well, it seems that has now been answered as Haaz Sleiman revealed in an interview with LOGOtv that he and Brian Tyree Henry will play a gay couple in the film.
It has been rumored that Richard Madden’s Ikaris would be portrayed in the film as gay, but it seems that it was false. Tyree Henry’s Phastos will be the first openly gay superhero alongside Sleiman’s unknown character. During his interview with LOGOtv, Sleiman revealed that Eternals will feature the first onscreen gay kiss in the MCU and shared some additional details.

Check below for the Lebanese star’s comments on the gay kiss and his relationship with Tyree Henry’s character:
“Oh, yeah, absolutely, and it’s a beautiful, very moving kiss. Everyone cried on set. For me it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be. Brian Tyree Henry is such a tremendous actor and brought so much beauty into this part, and at one point I saw a child in his eyes, and I think it’s important for the world to be reminded that we in the queer community were all children at one point. We forget that because we’re always depicted as sexual or rebellious. We forget to connect on that human part.”
It seems that Eternals is setting up to be quite the emotional story given Sleiman’s comments.
