Chiwetel Ejiofor Reportedly Set To Return As Mordo In ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Chiwetel Ejiofor arguably stole every scene when he played Baron Mordo in 2016’s Doctor Strange. Reluctantly standing side-by-side with Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular character, Mordo proved to be a force to be reckoned. As first reported by The Illuminerdi, the Academy Award-nominated actor will reprise this role in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The character will reportedly return as the film’s main villain after crusading to rid the world of sorcerers in Doctor Strange‘s mid-credits scene.
The highly anticipated sequel is shaping up to shake the foundation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, a bevy of reports have surfaced online revealing the inclusion of characters like Clea, Brother Voodoo, and America Chavez appearing in the film. Additionally, previous reports confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff in the 2021 film.

Ejiofor’s filmography has grown exponentially since he last appeared in the MCU. His relationship with Disney has expanded with roles in The Lion King and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Additionally, he will star in director Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming film Infinite.
With a script by Miller’s Girl scribe Jade Bartlett, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Madness promises to be a large-scale, epic cinematic experience. The film will also reportedly crossover with Disney+ series Loki and WandaVision. Last month, the film’s production hit a rather large bump in the road. Scott Derrickson, the film’s director, decided to part ways with the project citing creative differences with Marvel. However, the film remains on track for its originally planned release even without a new director currently attached.
