‘National Treasure 3’ Moving Forward With Jerry Bruckheimer On Board As Producer
It’s been almost 15 years since the release of National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The sequel to the original 2004 film was met with mixed reviews and grossed $450 million worldwide. As first reported by THR, Walt Disney Pictures is finally moving forward with the franchise’s third installment with Jerry Bruckheimer attached to produce. The film will be penned by Bad Boys for Life scribe Chris Bremner
The first two films, both starring the legendary Nicholas Cage, have quite the following. Fans have clamored for a third film since Cage teased his desire to return to the franchise way back in the winder of 2007. Additionally, over the years both Cage and Disney CEO Bob Iger have expressed a desire to produce a third National Treasure film. Most recently Bruckheimer confirmed a script was finished back in 2017. However, the filmmaker also revealed that Disney was not satisfied with the story.
Regardless of the turmoil, it looks like Disney is finally coming around and moving forward with National Treasure 3. Whether or not the film will see a large-scale release in theaters or stream on Disney+ is unknown.
National Treasure is a series of historical adventure mystery films starring Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Gates. Gates, alongside his trusted comrades (played by Jon Voight, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha), uncover hidden secrets from United States history while evading government officials.
