Timothée Chalamet To Star In James Mangold’s Bob Dylan Biopic ‘Going Electric’

James Mangold has endeared himself to the masses as a consistently solid filmmaker. His big hits include films like Logan, Ford v. Ferrari, and 3:10 To Yuma. Now, As first reported by Deadline, the Walk The Line director is stepping back into the musician biopic game with a Bob Dylan biopic.
Mangold closed a deal with Searchlight Pictures to direct a film about the legendary Bob Dylan. More specifically, the film, titled Going Electric, will focus on Dylan’s famous transition from folk music to rock n roll, which resulted in a ton of backlash from his adoring fans.

Timothée Chalamet will star in the film as young Bob Dylan during this highly publicized time in the singer’s life. Many on social media have already pointed to the resemblance the Beautiful Boy actor has to the singer-songwriter. Chalamet has become one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities following his head-turning performances in films like Little Women, Call Me By Your Name and The King. Additionally, the actor has been tapped to star in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming film Dune. Per the initial report, Chalamet has already been familiarizing himself with both acoustic and electric guitars for the role.
Furthermore, Mangold did a few rewrites of the original script for Going Electric which was penned by Jay Cocks (The Age of Innocence).
