RUMOR: Nightmare Will Be The Villain In ‘WandaVision’

During this year’s Marvel Studios panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that the upcoming Marvel series WandaVision will serve as a direct tie-in for the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. However, information as to how or why was scarce. According to a new rumor from Murphy’s Multiverse, Nightmare, the longtime adversary of Doctor Strange, will be WandaVision‘s big bad.
Per the report, the character is cast and will be revealed as the villain during the series’ first season. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness director Scott Derrickson teased that the sequel will be Marvel’s first film within the horror genre. Nightmare’s abilities and ambition is certainly a character that falls into that category.

Nightmare first appeared in Marvel’s Strange Tales #110 in 1963 and created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Nightmare is the evil ruler of the Dream Dimension, drawing power from the psychic energies of the subconscious minds of dreaming beings. Earlier this year screenwriter C. Robert Cargill expressed his hopes to use Nightmare in the upcoming sequel.
In addition to the series connecting with Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, Elizabeth Olsen will appear in the film as Scarlet Witch. This means Strange and his arch-nemesis will likely face-off in the MCU sooner, rather than later.
