Kevin Feige recently confirmed that production on Marvel Studios’ WandaVision has begun. Now, insider Charles Murphy has revealed several new details surrounding the series, including Kathryn Hahn’s character.
According to Murphy, Hahn will be playing a character named Agnes on the show. It is unclear if this is an original character or an adaptation of a classic Marvel character. However, it is known that Agnes is described as Wanda’s “nosy neighbor” and given the series sitcom inspiration, she will be the Ethel to Wanda’s Lucy from the classic I Love Lucy. Many fans have speculated that her character is Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch who mentored Wanda in the comics. Alternatively, now that we know her name is Agnes, she could be a version of the Agnes Ames from the 1960’s comic Modeling With Millie.
Murphy’s report also revealed half of WandaVision will film in front of a live studio audience, in the same vein of the classic sitcoms it will draw inspiration from. The show will jump through time to pay homage to many classic shows, but the first episode will be set in the 50s just like I Love Lucy.
Finally, according to the report, Wanda and Vision will be creating the perfect nuclear family over the course of the show. This was initially hinted at in the concept art based on the characters’ appearances. Their new look will persist for the beginning of the series as Vision will not have his synthesized look as he attempts to hold down and job as he lives with Wanda in the suburbs.
