Amazon’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Series Already Renewed For Season 2

The upcoming Lord of the Rings series on Amazon Prime is currently still in pre-production. However, that has not stopped the platform from looking towards the future. As first reported by Variety, the ambitious series is already renewed for season two.
Outside of a few cast and crew announcements, little is know of the upcoming show. Starring Markella Kavenagh, Will Poulter, and Joseph Mawle, it is still filming on location in New Zealand. Many locations in New Zealand also served as the backdrop for the original Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Amazon’s imminent interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s greatest tale is set to explore new storylines preceding The Fellowship of the Ring. Hopefully, it will bridge the gap between the original trilogy and the more recent The Hobbit trilogy. Tolkien famously wrote thousands of pages of his Middle Earth story so it will be interesting to see it explored in a long-form medium.
The Lord of the Rings is one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time. The Peter Jackson-led films earned $2.919 billion worldwide and obtained a record-breaking 11 Academy Awards.
