‘Stargirl’ Images Showcase JSA Logo & Star-Rocket Racer

Behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Stargirl feature iconic superhero imagery including the Justice Society of America table and trusty vehicle Star-Rocket Racer.
The Instagram page for Mad Ghost Productions, Geoff Johns’ recently-launched production company, has been posting several new looks from the set of production since September. The ones below feature the meeting grounds for the Justice Society of America, which includes a totally comic-accurate logo, and the Star-Rocket Racer, the flying vehicle of Golden-Age character Star-Spangled Kid.
Although it’s not clear who is driving the red car, the caption #StarRocketRacer does indicate that it is indeed the flying vehicle in which Star-Spangled Kid, otherwise known as Starman, flew briefly in the comics. Joel McHale plays Pemberton while Luke Wilson plays his longtime sidekick named Stripesy, who is better known as Courtney Whitmore’s stepfather, Pat Dugan. We speculate that Wilson is in the driver’s seat but it’s too early to tell for sure.

The roundtable of DC’s first superhero team looks to be very accurate to the Geoff Johns’ Justice Society of America Vol. 3 comic run from 2007. Interestingly enough, the chairs seem to be covered under sheets as if it was abandoned. Perhaps this scene takes place during the present time when the old team is disassembled and long-forgotten.
Hailing from Geoff Johns, Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama will reimagine Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.
