RUMOR: DC Universe’s ‘Stargirl’ Season One Moving To The CW

One of DC Universe’s upcoming original series could be in line for a shakeup. According to insider Jeff Sneider at Collider, Stargirl could be moving from the streaming service to The CW Network.
The scooper took to Twitter to drop the bombshell, revealing that the Brec Bassinger-led series would need to alter its episodes to fit network standards. “RUMOR: The DC series STARGIRL is heading to the CW, so episodes will have to be recut to fit the network’s broadcast standards, though uncut eps could make their way onto HBO Max down the line,” Sneider explained.
If this rumor holds any weight, it could spell doom for DC Universe. Since the cancelation of the James Wan-produced Swamp Thing, speculation has run rampant about the future of the streaming service. With the release of HBO Max imminent, it’s hard to believe Warner Bros. would want two platforms running at the same time, meaning DCU could end up folding into the new service. If that’s the case, cuts would likely have to be made, which is why a situation like this would occur.
Hailing from Geoff Johns, Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama will reimagine Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.
