On the heels of the full cast announcement for James Gunn’s upcoming reboot of Task Force X, a new rumor may shed light on who one of the film’s top stars could be playing. According to The Weekly Planet Podcast, Thor: Ragnarok star Idris Elba will be portraying Vigilante in The Suicide Squad.

During the show’s “Hot Scoop or Shot of Poop” segment, co-hosts James Clement and Nick Mason revealed that an anonymous source provided them with information that could help solve the mystery of Elba’s role. Since his casting earlier this year, speculation has run rampant about who the 47-year-old actor could be portraying in The Suicide Squad, with the popular theories being Sportsmaster or Bronze Tiger.

Following the character’s first appearance in 1941, several individuals have donned the Vigilante name, with some of the most notable being Adrian Chase and Alan Welles. The most recent Vigilante, Donald Fairchild, was introduced during the DC Rebirth miniseries. Fairchild is a former basketball player who takes on the antihero moniker to fight crime.

An original incarnation of Vigilante named Vincent Sobel appeared in the fifth season of The CW’s Arrow. The former partner of Dinah Drake, Sobel was assumed dead after being shot by a drug dealer in Central City at the same time as the particle accelerator explosion at Star Labs. That wasn’t the case, however, as Sobel survived the attack using metahuman abilities granted to him by the explosion.

In addition to Elba’s role, The Weekly Planet’s source also revealed some of the other potential characters appearing in the film and the actors portraying them. The roster includes Nathan Fillion as Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Flula Borg as Javelin, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Michael Rooker as Savant, and Mayling Ng as Mongal.
