Disney’s ‘Snow White’ Remake Will Enter Production Next Spring

Disney has been pumping out live-action remakes in recent years, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. A remake of the film that put the studio on the map way back in the 1930s will be kicking into gear this coming Spring. According to our friends at TheDisInsider, Disney’s remake of Snow White will get cameras rolling in 2020.
To be more specific, the film will begin production as soon as March. A casting search is already underway for Snow White, the seven dwarves, the prince, and the evil queen. The film will be guided under the direction of Marc Webb, best known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man franchise and 500 Days of Summer.
The film will be a musical, and will include all new songs from Oscar winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Mary Poppins Returns and La La Land producer Marc Platt has also joined the crew.

Released way back in 1937, Snow White made history by being the first ever full length animated feature film. Its success cemented Disney’s status as a powerhouse of animated entertainment, and it remains a beloved classic to this day. No release date for the remake is currently set.
Aladdin and The Lion King both dominated the box office over the summer, and a re-imagining of the beloved classic Mulan isn’t that far off. With continued success on their live-action remakes, it makes sense Disney would continue to go into the vault for more properties to bring to the big screen.
