‘Supernatural’ Star Osric Chau Joins ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’ As The Atom

The CW isn’t done adding to the star-studded cast of its upcoming crossover. As first reported by TV Insider, Supernatural star Osric Chau has joined Crisis On Infinite Earths as Ryan Choi, aka the Atom.
Chau is best known for his role as Kevin Tran on The CW’s Supernatural. His other credits include The 100, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, and Roland Emmerich’s 2012. Earlier this year, Choi appeared in the indie film Empty by Design, a project he also produced.
Created by Gail Simone and Grant Morrison, Ryan Choi was a longtime protégé of the original Atom, Ray Palmer. Following Palmer’s disappearance, Choi moved to Ivy Town to assume his mentor’s place on the staff of Ivy Town University. After discovering a series of clues left by Palmer, Choi came across a “bio-belt” that granted him the powers of the Atom.

Per TV Insider, Choi will be a professor at Ivy Town University, just like his comic counterpart. He is described as “a normal guy who learns that he has a pivotal role to play in the coming Crisis On Infinite Earths.”
What’s interesting about the timing of this casting is that earlier this year, reports began to spread claiming that Brandon Routh, who plays Ray Palmer on Legends of Tomorrow, would be exiting the Arrowverse after this season. Given that Chau has ties to The CW, they may be looking to bring him aboard the Waverider following the crossover.
